BARBERTON: Police observed a vehicle cross two lanes of traffic and pull into a parking lot April 26. They determined the driver had two warrants, and the 21st Street Southwest woman was turned over to the New Franklin Police Department.Police saw a vehicle speeding and then go into the bike lane twice April 26. They stopped the driver and spoke with the man, who had slurred speech. The Massillon man failed field sobriety tests, was charged with OVI and his vehicle was towed.Officers located a stolen vehicle April 26 on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road and determined the man driving it was under suspension. He was cited for driving under suspension and taken to the Barberton City Jail.Police received a complaint from neighbors of a barking dog April 26, located the home of the dog and spoke with the owner, who said she would bring the dog inside. The Hermann Street woman did not do that and she was cited for having a barking dog.A Fifth Street Northeast gas station employee reported April 26 a man entered wearing a winter hat and coat and stole two cans of tea and two 12-packs of beer.Police found a man using an electric outlet belonging to the city to charge his phone at Lake Anna April 26 and charged the Herberich Avenue man with theft.A woman reported a man she has a protection order against assaulted her April 26. The man was charged with strangulation, domestic violence and violation of a protection order. The Columbus man turned himself in to police May 4 and was taken to the Summit County Jail.Officers observed a woman pushing a shopping cart with another woman sitting inside it down the sidewalk April 27. Both admitted they did not have permission to have the shopping cart and were charged with criminal mischief.Police saw a vehicle parked the wrong way on a street April 27 and watched the driver enter a driveway. The man did not comply with orders to stay in the vehicle and instead went inside the home. He eventually came out and was arrested on active warrants and taken to the Jail. He was also cited for driving under suspension and charged with obstruction.An East State Street man reported April 27 a man was knocking on his back door and walking around his yard. Officers located him shortly after walking through yards, found he had a warrant through the Summit County Sheriff's Office and he was turned over to that department. The Sixth Street Northwest man was also charged with criminal trespassing.A Wooster Road North store employee reported April 29 a woman entered with empty bags but left with full bags after avoiding the registers. Police charged the Stow woman with theft.Officers responding to a crash at West State and Elmwood streets April 29 spoke with one man involved in the accident who appeared intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests, was charged with OVI and taken to the Jail.Police were called to a Michigan Place home April 29 after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend struck her in the back of the head during an argument. The man was charged with assault.A Harden Drive man reported April 30 a woman he used to be married to said she was going to leave three dogs at his home. He said he told her he did not want the dogs but the woman still showed up. Officers determined the woman was not supposed to be at the man's home and charged her with criminal trespassing and for driving under suspension.

COVENTRY: A Swartz Road woman reported May 18 she learned someone used her identity to open a credit card account and incur charges and found out her federal income tax return of $704 had been stolen and deposited into an unknown account.Summit County Sheriff's Office deputies investigating the theft of a pickup truck carrying 40,000 feet of fiber optic cable May 19 at 2:45 a.m.A Cottage Grove Road woman reported May 19 her personal information was stolen via a profile on her daughter's social media site.Deputies investigated a May 19 report stating someone hacked into the payroll account of an employee of a Coventry church and changed the direct deposit information.A woman staying at a Manchester Road hotel reported May 19 a man in another room has been calling to ask for his money back after she cleaned his phone and he paid her $10. Deputies advised him to stop contacting her and handle the matter through civil court.Deputies reviewed video surveillance of a white pickup truck May 20 while investigating the theft of three personal checks from a mailbox on Highspire Drive. An hour later, a Robinson Avenue resident reported the theft of mail involving the same vehicle.An employee of a Portage Lakes Drive church reported May 20 someone kicked in the door and entered a garage on the property, but nothing was stolen.On May 20 deputies patrolling Cormany Road found doors on two school buses open. There was no one inside and the doors were secured.Employees reported two men loaded merchandise into a shopping cart at a Manchester Road store May 21 and left in a red sedan without paying for the estimated $200 in items.Deputies investigated a May 22 report that a Chaffin Road man had a large pile of trash in his yard that was blowing on to the road and into other yards. The man told deputies he would arrange for a bulk trash pickup and they told him to clean up any trash that blows out of his yard.Neighbors of a Hyfield Avenue home reported someone with a flashlight was in the driveway May 22. Deputies determined it was the former owner of the house, which had been sold April 28 to a man in Green, whom deputies contacted. That man stated he would not take possession of the house for 30 days, and deputies advised the man found on the property, who stated he was there to get his belongings, that he could stay but advised him he could not be on the property after the new owner takes possession.On May 23 deputies searched for a man who stole a kayak from a Dorwil Court residence and fled via a waterway. The victim told deputies an Oak Grove Road resident got a photo of the thief emerging from the kayak in the lake. Earlier that evening, the same man had stolen a kayak in New Franklin. Deputies located one of the kayaks in the lake, returned it to the victim and are searching for the thief.A Barberton man reported his wallet was stolen from his vehicle parked on Portage Lakes Drive while he was fishing May 24.A Lake Beach Boulevard woman reported a man rode an ATV through her lawn and garage May 24 and provided deputies with video of the incident.The manager of a South Main Street truck rental business reported May 25 a truck is missing.

GREEN: Summit County Sheriff's Office deputies May 18 searched a Massillon Road area for a vehicle after the owner of a business reported two men in that vehicle asked him if he purchased catalytic converters. He gave deputies the license number of the vehicle.On May 19 employees called deputies to a vehicle impound lot on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road after a man whose vehicles had been towed there at the request of city officials was taking photos of the vehicles and asking for assistance in getting them. Deputies told him all four of the unlicensed, inoperable vehicles towed from his property, were secured in the impound lot, explained he could not get them without obtaining a release and he should not return to the business until he had secured that release.Deputies investigated the burglary of an East Caston Road house May 20 after a caretaker reported he found the chain lock had been cut, the door had been forced open and items inside had been moved. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.On May 20 deputies searched an area near a South Arlington Road business but were unable to locate a man who grabbed a bag containing two cheeseburgers from the drive-through window and ran off without paying for them.The owner of an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road storage facility reported May 21 someone cut the locks on three units, broke the hasp on the door of another and stole items. A man who rented one of the units reported $1,400 in items was missing from the unit.On May 22 deputies attempted to contact the owner of a vehicle abandoned near Adawood Hills Drive and South Main Street and had it towed to an impound lot after they could not.Deputies investigated the theft of a license plate from a vehicle on Mayfair Road May 22 and entered information about it into a national database.A city employee reported May 23 someone spray-painted graffiti on two portable toilets at a youth complex on Greensburg Road.A West Long Street woman was arrested for theft of $726 in items from an Arlington Ridge Road store May 23 and banned from the business.Deputies assisted a Christman Road woman in contacting her bank May 24 after she reported a woman came to her home and asked her to review some documents. While she went to get other information, the person took personal and banking information left on a table and fled.A Heckman Road man reported May 24 someone walked into his open garage and stole an impact driver, battery charger and 20-volt batteries.Deputies reviewed video surveillance from an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road business while investigating the theft of a dirt bike. The video showed a man steal the dirt bike from a truck bed May 26 at 3:10 a.m.A Wise Road woman reported May 25 someone punched two holes in the door of her vehicle.

LAKEMORE: A Lakeside Drive woman reported May 23 someone stole multiple solar-powered lawn ornaments from her yard.Police responded to a report of a stolen dirt bike from a Church Street home May 27.

NEW FRANKLIN: Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it go left of center multiple times May 13. They noticed a strong odor of alcohol upon speaking to the driver, who was able to complete field sobriety tests. The Munroe Falls man was found to be driving under suspension and cited for that infraction, as well as crossing marked lanes.A Midland Avenue man reported May 14 he was using Facebook Marketplace to attempt to purchase silver bars from a woman he had sent money to using Venmo. He said the woman never shipped the items and stopped communicating with him. Police left a message with the woman regarding the matter.Police stopped a driver for having no rear illumination on the vehicle May 22. The Morse Street man had a bag of marijuana in his pocket and a warrant out of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. He was transported to that department. A box was also found in the vehicle with two glass pipes inside belonging to a Woodlawn Avenue man who was a passenger, and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Officers responded to a Manchester Road store May 22 after the manager reported two counterfeit $10 bills were received from a man. Security surveillance showed the Yellow Springs man's vehicle and the man was charged with theft.A Dailey Road man reported his trailer was stolen between May 21-22. He said it had been locked down at the hitch of his camper when it was stolen.Police stopped a driver for having an expired registration May 24. They found the Dailey Road man was driving under suspension, and his driver's license and plates were seized and his vehicle was towed.

SPRINGFIELD: The following people were charged with theft May 4-6 after stealing from a South Arlington Road store: a Hazel Street man for leaving with $158 in unpaid items; and two juveniles who were seen placing $182 in items in their clothing and who were also charged with obstruction after they refused to identify themselves.Police were called to a South Arlington Road gas station May 3 for a man who was not permitted to be on the property. The man was asked to leave and threatened an employee. Officers located the Eighth Avenue man in a nearby parking lot and charged him with menacing and criminal trespassing.A man reported May 3 the rear passenger side door of his vehicle was damaged while it was parked at Springfield Bog Metro Park.Police were called to a South Arlington Road hotel for a report of a man walking up and down the hallway screaming May 4. Officers located the man, searched his room and found unknown pills, cash and mushrooms. The man was charged with trafficking in and possession of drugs.Officers responding to a fight May 4 spoke to the mother who said her juvenile son was yelling at her and threatening to leave and never come back. She also said her son said he was going to fight his stepdad and beat up his little brother. The juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct.Police were called to a South Arlington Road store for theft May 5 after a store employee reported a man stole a gas grill and left. Officers located the trailer carrying the grill nearby and changed the Hartville man with theft.Officers responded to a South Arlington Road store for an assault in the parking lot May 5. They spoke to a woman who said a man threw an open container of alcohol at her and was barking and growling at customers. The man was also observed urinating on the bushes at a nearby restaurant. The Kentucky man was charged with assault, public indecency and disorderly conduct.Police spoke to the occupants of a vehicle parked behind a South Arlington Road hotel May 5. The men said they did not have a room key and refused to let officers search their vehicle. A K9 performed an open-air sniff and located methamphetamine inside. A Montana Avenue man who was a passenger was charged with possession of drugs and taken to the Summit County Jail.Officers stopped a man and a woman riding bicycles without any reflectors or lights May 6. The woman gave false information but police determined she had several active felony warrants out of the Summit County Sheriff's Office and the Portage County Sheriff's Office. She was charged with forgery and obstruction and turned over to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.A Killian Road man reported May 6 a vehicle damaged his mailbox and left.A Massillon Road business owner told police May 6 someone forced entry into the business May 5-6, ransacked it and stole money.
