Recently, Bobby Flay launched a new line of cookware and knives with legendary kitchen gear company GreenPan. The cookware brand's previous collaboration with Stanley Tucci was an editor favorite, so we were intrigued to hear about the launch of Flay's line. This new collection includes basically everything you need to deck out a kitchen fit for a pro: stainless steel, nonstick, and pre-seasoned cast iron sets, as well as stainless steel knives and enameled Dutch ovens.
We’re working on some more in-depth reviews of a few of these pieces but wanted to alert you to the launch right away, since we know many out there want to beat Bobby Flay and will waste no time learning his secrets. I talked to a few colleagues who are already testing his gear and learned about their initial thoughts. Here are the Bobby Flay x GreenPan pieces you need to know about.

“Cast iron is one of my favorite materials to cook with, and the pieces I tried were no exception,” said Montemarano. “Everything seared, browned, and bubbled in the Dutch oven beautifully. I think the price point is so fair for how easy and fuss-free this is to use, too. I’d expect nothing less from Flay, to be honest.”

I’m enjoying working my way through these knives so far. I’ve already done some food prep with the larger pieces and can report that the 8-inch chef’s and 7-inch santoku knives are extremely sharp, pretty lightweight, and super comfortable to hold. (Not to mention good at chopping onions.) For the price, this is an excellent collection. It also includes a bread knife, a serrated knife, a paring knife, kitchen shears, a set of steak knives, and an acacia wood block.

For basically $20 each, you’re getting a professional-level chef’s knife, a versatile utility knife, and a nimble 3.5-inch paring knife. These pieces are ultra sharp and very pleasant to use — a perfect set for somebody who just needs a few powerful knives to round out (or begin) their collection.

Commerce writer An Uong, who has years of experience cooking and testing new kitchen products, loves this skillet. “The Bobby Flay cast iron skillet by GreenPan is able to achieve a golden brown sear on tofu and release eggs without any sticking. I was truly impressed with how nonstick it can be, especially when baking cornbread,” she told me. “For cooking a larger amount of food, like cauliflower florets, it was able to brown the pieces without steaming and overcrowding. I also liked that there’s a helper handle to make maneuvering it on the stovetop easy.”

For people who love grilling year-round, grill pans are absolutely essential. This nonstick, square option is great for searing, frying, baking, sautéing, and, of course, grilling. We’d expect no less from Flay, who seems to be pretty good at grilling. Montemarano reported that this grill pan seared and browned admirably.
