Oct 29, 2023Oct 29, 2023

EAST HAVEN, CT —Experience the golden age of transportation as trolley cars, work equipment from the turn of the last century, parade by. Watch the repair equipment "work horses" of the US streetcar era rumble past and feel the awe-inspiring power of vintage subway equipment pass by.

The Shore Line Trolley Museum has its "Museum in Motion" annual event slated for Saturday, June 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event showcases some of its collection in motion, and many of these cars aren't normally seen running for the public.

This once-a-year event provides all day photo ops and rail art-in-motion parades at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The parade will include a short narration on each vehicle and is certain to please history buffs, photographers, and rail fans young and old. Tickets for this special event are $20, available online or at the door.

This event kicks off the museum's 2023 summer season, running in July and August. The museum will be open for daily trolley rides, Wednesday through Sunday, beginning on June 25. Special events include Tuesday reading programs, sensory friendly afternoons, Ladies Nights, and a Christmas in July craft fair. Other programs this summer include "Giving Back to the Community" fundraisers for local non-profits, talks on pollinator, raptor, and sea level rise, and a "Rails to Trails" series in cooperation with the Shoreline Greenway Trail.

The Mission of The Shore Line Trolley Museum is to preserve and share the social and technological history and continuing impact of urban and suburban public transportation systems by sustaining and operating historic vehicles on the oldest continuously running suburban trolley line in the United States. The museum operates as the Branford Electric Railway Association, a National Historic District. The museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.
